Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
I choose the scene at almost of the end of the film. When the Doctors with Francis has exposed secrets by using a book that was found by a doctor. While Dr. Caligari is asleep. They find out that Caligari has taken his name from a dead monk centuries ago. In the cabinet there is a Sommambulist in which he uses to carry out all of his murders on whoever he wanted. I think its most profound element in this film is its non realistic set design. With jagged angles and a weird perspective. With its German Expressionism, the walls and halls are all distorted. The building and the rooms in which Dr. Caligari sleeps and his office they are all slanted. It is like a night mare waiting to happen. It also has like a psychotic pattern. Dr. Caligari mind in this film is portrayed as if he is not in great state of mind. This film reminds me of later times of Producers using the same product of expressionism in films such as beetle juice below. This scene relates to class because it is also a way that it co exists with the expression of Dadaism. The environment is all distorted. As if that's the way of life of a human who is living in the century where wars has distorted and destroyed their way of life.
