Pain

"Pain disregards for our system of values greatly increases its hold on life. No human situation is secure against pain. Our children's tales close with passages about heroes who, having overcome many dangers, live out their lives with peace and happiness. We hear such assurances with pleasure, for it is comforting for us to learn about a place removed from pain. Yet, in truth, life is without any such satisfying end, and it is evident by the fragmentary character of most great novels, which are either incomplete or crowned by an artificial conclusion. Even Faust closes with this sort of contrived literary device."

         What Junger is saying in this passage in life there is no happily ever after. Life will always result in pain due to death. It is very naive of people to believe that we are all secure from pain. Pain is inevitable. It is due to our beliefs in religion that we all have faith. In history due to Imperialism and totalitarianism Germans have been destroyed emotionally and cognitively. Through politics we are distressed human beings. We are intended to believe our world leaders will save us like the myths of gods or superheroes. Therefore I believe that still on present day we are still teaching children pain but in legit process. I work in for the Department of education and it is painful what our system is suffering, also our children suffering. The teach to the test is painful to teachers. It takes teaching away. It's a philosopher of education on his theory "Liberation Pedagogy" Paulo Freire

"The power of education to liberate or free oppressed people from the social economic and political conditions that dis-empower and marginalize them".

We are bound to our backs to each other. where our great leader our heroes that we put so much faith in are taking our life away slowly but silently. The future our children are in for a world of slavery, mind control and no heroes to save them. No Marvel comic heroes, no Dc comic heroes. Just our politicians in the senate and congress who dig deep to have a Totalitarianism state once again. History repeats its self and as a society we just let it happen. In faith that a hero will come save us from the hell we live in.

Politics as a Vocation

After reading the 'Politics as a Vocation'  Max Weber I choose to select this this passage "'Every state is founded on force,' said Trotsky at Brest-Litovsk. That is indeed right. If no social institutions existed which knew the use of violence, then the concept of 'state' would be eliminated, and a condition would emerge that could be designated as 'anarchy,' in the specific sense of this word. Of course, force is certainly not the normal or the only means of the state--nobody says that--but force is a means specific to the state. Today the relation between the state and violence is an especially intimate one. In the past, the most varied institutions--beginning with the sib--have known the use of physical force as quite normal. Today, however, we have to say that a state is a human community that (successfully) claims the monopoly of the legitimate use of physical force within a given territory. Note that 'territory' is one of the characteristics of the state. Specifically, at the present time, the right to use physical force is ascribed to other institutions or to individuals only to the extent to which the state permits it. The state is considered the sole source of the 'right' to use violence. Hence, 'politics' for us means striving to share power or striving to influence the distribution of power, either among states or among groups within a state."

   

  This paragraph essentially positions that any political organization or state has remained instigated by violent force. If not then it isn't state but Anarchy and nothing officially makes this connection but it goes without question that it is part of the requirements. In addition Weber states that the present state was very accustomed with violence since extremists were rioting and states were creating militias to fight against each other and that now the state has full authority to use violence as long as the state authorize it and politics are used to fight over the rights to use violence as they see fit. This passage caught my thought because the use of violence is rarely shown as part of a State’s plan or agenda for example during the colonization’s that Spain, England and later America had. America also saw it  fit to allow the imperialistic force that they believed was necessary .The torturing, burning, and hanging of anyone who wasn't white during the civil war and all these acts were allowed by each state. I also significantly thought a lot of the bourgeoisie and the oligarchy of a government towards the people of a state. The democracy of any state is an oligarchy. Including ours of this state now. Nazism is a form of Fascists’, racists oligarchy while imperialism by force fuels the bubble.

Weimar Republic

Assignment (Due 11/1): Please choose TWO sections from the Weimar Constitution  one from the first part on the structure of government, (Art. 1-108) and a second from the section on rights (Art 109-181). Please write out the passages, interpret the meaning of them, then explain why you chose these passages.

                       Article 17

Every state must have the constitution of a free state. State parliament must be elected in a general, equal, immediate and secret ballot, in which all Reich German men and women participate, according to the principles of representative election. The state government requires the confidence of state parliament.The principles for the election of state parliament also apply for local elections. State law may determine if those who lived in the community for one year or less may participate in the election or not.

        

  My thoughts of this article is that if you are a born and raised citizen you have the right to vote for  who you want to represent you in parliament. This will be done without judgment and no one can know for who you voted because it is a secret ballot. Men and women are represented equally. State and local elections are conducted the same way. In addition, to state law it can be established exactly  if "those who lived in the community for one year or less may participate in the election or not". I chose this because this is the way to get a voice heard. We as people should have all rights to vote. Our voices are heard through an opinion that goes on paper. Men and women are justified equal, man and woman have the same voice to be expressed. In my opinion everyone should have the right to express their opinion if they live in anywhere they reside.  

                       Article 119

Marriage, as the foundation of the family and the preservation and expansion of the nation, enjoys the special protection of the constitution. It is based on the equality of both genders.It is task of both the state and the communities to strengthen and socially promote the family. Large families may claim social welfare.Motherhood is placed under state protection and welfare.

My interpretation of this passage is that the family is the strength of any community. In order to have more generations that are responsible it has to start with the foundation of the family. The community plays a great role in encouraging the structure of family and unity. After all families create the future of love and prosperity with family and it's importance. What  will keep and improve the nation. Further more Is important that gender is based on equality and that everyone are created as equal as others to be part of something greater than self.  I chose this part of the article because I agree that family is very important to a society. A family doesn't not necessarily means mom, dad and children. It can also mean anyone that comes together and take care of one another. This promotes a significance in love and prosperity. It's importance is that mother is the great nation, the people are it's family together we make a safe haven for all. Including with the article above we vote for a great leader to take us into the future our mother or father of this great nation and the family that lives to prosper for eternity.
